Commercial Vehicles 2027 – From Technology to the Complete Vehicle

The commercial vehicle industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Decarbonization, digitalization and automation are advancing simultaneously – creating new opportunities, but also raising one central question:

How can new technologies be successfully integrated into efficient, sustainable, safe and economically viable commercial vehicles and transportation systems?

The VDI Conference “Commercial Vehicles 2027” brings together experts from across the commercial vehicle ecosystem to discuss exactly this question. Instead of looking at individual technologies in isolation, the conference focuses on their interaction within the complete vehicle as an integrated system: from powertrain and energy management to software, automation and vehicle architectures, body and trailer solutions, through to infrastructure, logistics and future mobility ecosystems.

Discover new technological approaches, learn from real-world applications and exchange ideas with vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, body and trailer manufacturers, technology providers, operators and researchers from the international commercial vehicle community.

Call for Papers started - experts wanted

Submit your participation before 06. November 2026

Call for Papers – Share your expertise

The future commercial vehicle will not be shaped by one technology alone. It will be shaped by how technologies work together within the complete vehicle and beyond.

Do you have a new solution, research result, development project or real-world application that can contribute to this discussion?

The Program Committee invites experts from industry, research and operation to submit contributions for Commercial Vehicles 2027. We particularly welcome practical applications, interdisciplinary approaches and contributions that connect technologies across traditional domain boundaries and demonstrate tangible value in real-world operation.

Submit your abstract by November 6, 2026, and help shape the program of Commercial Vehicles 2027.

Experience technology – and meet the people behind it

Commercial vehicle innovation does not happen on presentation slides alone.

As part of the conference framework program, participants will have the opportunity to experience technologies and vehicle concepts first-hand. Test drives on the Iveco Group test track will complement the technical conference program, bringing participants even closer to real-world commercial vehicle development and application. Further activities are currently being planned.

And because some of the most valuable discussions happen outside the conference room, the evening get-together will provide plenty of opportunity to continue conversations, exchange experiences and expand your professional network.

Further details on the framework program will be announced with the conference program.
