VDI Wissensforum has transformed from a traditional office into an Activity-Based-Workplace: modern working spaces, the best technical equipment and an excellent working environment are a delight for the employees. This has led to a first award. The prize is based on company evaluations – more than 13,000 datasets from various companies were analyzed. CEO Timo Taubitz is proud: “I’m particularly happy about this award, since it’s based on reviews by our own employees. It’s the best confirmation that our new working concept works and that our employees feel good with us.”
The new working concept “Wissensforum 4.0” is designed to align the company with digital developments and was created by the employees themselves. It also won a great deal of praise in the evaluations: “open space at its best,” and “fantastic equipment in the newly rebuilt office and the finest technology!” were just a few comments. “The workspace needs to be adapted to modern times and the digital transformation,” says Taubitz. “But we must also adjust to the new realities outside of the working environment. This includes a healthy work-life balance, for example, with flexible working times and mobile work.”
At the same time, the company wants to foster the personal development and creativity of its employees. This includes flatter hierarchies and direct communication channels. “All employees address one another informally here, and that includes me as well,” Taubitz explains.
Focus-Business has been awarding the “Top SME Employer” prize in cooperation with employee rating portal Kununu since 2017. The ranking for the award is based on the evaluation of companies by employees and candidates. The SME category includes companies with more than 11 and fewer than 500 employees based in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Employees must give the company at least 3.5 out of 5 possible points. The complete list of top employers was published in a special edition of Focus-Business on the 28th of November 2018.
